Bridging the gap between grassroots rural climate action and global voluntary carbon finance.
CARBODIT is a climate-tech startup developing a community-based digital carbon finance Platform that connects rural communities with voluntary carbon markets. We help farmers, landowners, and local institutions generate value from climate-positive activities such as tree planting, forest conservation, agroforestry, and sustainable agricultural practices.
By combining geospatial technology, digital monitoring, and transparent carbon accounting, CARBODIT aims to make climate finance accessible to smallholders who are often excluded from carbon markets. Our mission is to empower local communities with carbon credits while promoting climate justice, biodiversity conservation, and sustainable rural development.
Watch how our digital carbon finance platform bridges grassroots rural farmers with transparent geospatial monitoring, digital carbon accounting, and carbon market access.
CARBODIT aggregates carbon-generating activities from small and fragmented landholdings into scalable carbon projects. Through community engagement, digital monitoring systems, and data-driven carbon accounting, we quantify carbon sequestration and connect verified climate impacts with potential carbon finance opportunities.
Through these efforts, CARBODIT seeks to create a transparent and inclusive pathway for rural communities to participate in the emerging green economy.
From Vision to Multidisciplinary Impact
CARBODIT began its journey in July 2025 with a vision to make climate finance accessible to rural communities. Co-founded by Saifullah Manwar Mahin and Fabian Taskin, students of Gazipur Agricultural University, the initiative was created to bridge the gap between local climate action and global carbon markets.
Alongside Saifullah Manwar Mahin and Fabian Taskin, CARBODIT's core team includes Adity Ghosh and Arfa Saiyara Riza. Together, they bring expertise from diverse academic backgrounds and share a common goal of developing innovative climate solutions for rural communities.
Today, CARBODIT has grown into a multidisciplinary team comprising members from:
The team is mentored by Md. Ruhul Amin, Assistant Professor, Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, Gazipur Agricultural University, whose guidance has contributed significantly to the development of CARBODIT's vision and strategy.
"What started as an idea has evolved into a growing climate-tech initiative dedicated to connecting rural communities with carbon finance opportunities and building a more resilient, low-carbon future."
CARBODIT began its journey with the vision of developing a community-based digital carbon finance model for rural empowerment.
The CARBODIT platform was launched through the Hult Prize at Gazipur Agricultural University, marking an important step in developing its digital approach to connecting rural communities with carbon finance.
CARBODIT has begun its pilot phase across Natore, Khulna, and Gazipur, working directly with rural communities to explore how carbon finance can create value for local landowners and farmers.
During the pilot phase, our team conducted field visits, collected tree and land-related data, engaged with farmers, and introduced them to the concept of carbon credits and the opportunities associated with participating in carbon projects.
We have also collected consent forms from participating landowners and farmers who have agreed to include their land and trees under potential CARBODIT projects. As part of this commitment, participants have expressed their willingness to maintain existing trees, avoid unnecessary tree cutting, and plant additional trees as part of their climate and carbon-sequestration efforts.
Building on these field experiences, CARBODIT is currently developing a Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) system designed to make carbon project monitoring more efficient, transparent, accessible, and convenient for rural communities.
Our work is focused on building a practical connection between field-level climate action, reliable carbon data, and access to carbon finance.

Carbodit operates under internationally verified carbon methodologies. Powered by Verra VM0047 v1.1, our platform guarantees high-integrity, satellite-audited atmospheric carbon removals.
Verra’s VM0047 v1.1 methodology uses dynamic remote sensing and satellite control plot matches for real-time biomass sequestration accounting.
Guarantees strict social safeguards, local stakeholder inclusion, biodiversity protection, and direct contribution to UN SDGs.
Meets Tier-1 global integrity criteria for additionality, permanence, non-permanence buffer reserves, and robust MRV governance.
Seamless issuance and retirement of Verified Carbon Units (VCUs) mapped with unique serial numbers for 100% trace-ability.

Direct removal of atmospheric CO₂ through scientific afforestation, reforestation, and revegetation (ARR) under the Verra VM0047 standard.
Restoring degraded ecosystems using native multi-species planting to revive local flora, fauna habitat, and native watershed balance.
Empowerment of local land stewards through fair-wage employment, nursery training, and direct community benefit-sharing models.
Dynamic baseline setting and continuous satellite observation ensuring absolute additionality, leakage control, and verified biomass growth.
Our VM0047 ARR methodology framework directly advances four primary global SDGs:
A Carbon Credit represents a measurable, verifiable permit or certificate representing the reduction, avoidance, or removal of exactly 1 Metric Tonne of Carbon Dioxide (tCO₂e) from our atmosphere.
Voluntary carbon markets operate on strict standardized units. Exactly 1 Carbon Credit = 1,000 kg CO₂e removed or permanently avoided. Through CARBODIT's digital platform, we ensure every tonne is rigorously verified using satellite remote sensing and biological allometric equations.
"By combining robust field protocols with digital MRV, CARBODIT empowers rural land stewards to convert natural carbon sequestration into verified digital assets."
Explore the primary agricultural and nature-based sources that absorb or prevent greenhouse gas emissions globally.
Trees absorb CO₂ via photosynthesis and store it as woody biomass in trunks, branches, and roots for decades.
Periodic drying of paddy fields prevents anaerobic soil bacteria from producing harmful methane gases.
Manure bio-digesters convert livestock emissions into clean cooking fuel and nutrient-rich bio-fertilizer.
Pyrolyzing farm waste converts organic carbon into stable soil biochar for hundreds of years.
CARBODIT is built to digitize, calculate, and verify carbon offsets under international standards like Verra (VCS) and Gold Standard.
Currently, CARBODIT specializes in calculating and modeling tree biomass carbon sequestration using native species equations. As we expand, our platform will integrate dMRV tools for agricultural methane (AWD), livestock bio-digesters, and biochar systems.
Calculates trunk biomass, canopy sequestration rate, and equivalent tCO₂e credits for Bangladeshi native trees.
Expanding dMRV sensor tracking for paddy water levels (AWD), livestock methane reduction, and soil biochar carbon sinks.
Driven by passion for climate tech, rural development, and environmental economics.
